Presentation #1: “QC/QA Programs for Ingredient Suppliers and Contract Manufacturers”

Presentation #2: “The Benefits of Outsourcing your Supplier Qualification Program”

There are various criteria and tools available today for which to audit ingredient suppliers and contract manufacturing plants to gauge how they meet the requirements of local, state, federal government agencies and customer requirements. Suppliers of raw material must be qualified, certified and approved. This presentation will show several examples of the supplier qualification process, along with methods to evaluate, monitor and provide feedback regarding contract manufacturers’ performance to attain continuous quality improvement.

Presented by:

Ralph Palumbo has over 20 years experience in the fields of quality assurance and control. He is currently the Supervisor of Quality Compliance at Herbalife International Inc. where he oversees the conformance of both internal and external functions to Herbalife International regulatory standards and requirements. Palumbo previously was the Senior Quality Assurance Auditor at Herbalife International prior to assuming his role as the Quality Compliance Supervisor, and still oversees the quality auditing department, and performs audits.

Monica Ito is the Document Control Supervisor for the Quality department of Herbalife International of America. She is involved in the development of specifications for raw materials and finished products. She has more than eight years of analytical experience in dietary supplement, food and personal care testing laboratories. She received her bachelor's degree in chemistry from University of the Philippines. She taught college chemistry (general, organic, analytical and instrumentation) in the same university for more than five years while pursuing a master's degree in biochemistry.

As pressure rises to increase efficiency and contain costs, companies struggle with the option of dedicating internal resources or outsourcing the management of supplier qualification programs. Several questions should be taken into consideration: Does it make logistical and fiscal sense to outsource? What is the value of independent, third-party qualification? How do I choose an outsourcing partner? This presentation will demonstrate the potential benefits of outsourcing the development and management of supplier qualification programs. It provides various scenarios you can use to help determine if outsourcing is the best option for your company and what type of company to choose.

Presented by:
